Cobb County Habitat for Humanity houses are sold with no profit made. Homeowners contribute "sweat equity" and house payments are recycled to build additional houses.
About Us

Our Mission:
Cobb County Habitat for Humanity works to build a stronger community by creating affordable housing in partnership with volunteers and responsible families in need.

  • Cobb Habitat is committed to its goal of building simple, decent, affordable housing by working in partnership with God's people in need.  Using volunteer labor and donated funds and materials, Cobb Habitat builds or rehabilitates houses and sells them to responsible families in need at no profit with no interest charged. (Exodus 22:25)
  • We believe that every person deserves a simple and decent place in which to live and grow into all that God intends for them to be.
  • Families qualify for homeownership based on three criteria:  need for housing, a willingness to partner with Cobb Habitat and an ability to repay a no-interest mortgage.
  • We work with people of all faiths and people of no faith.
  • We have built and renovated over 260 houses in Cobb County since 1986.

History

Cobb County Habitat for Humanity, Inc. was formally affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International on April 1, 1986.

Of the 1,700 affiliates in the country, Cobb Habitat is recognized as one of the top 35 affiliates in the nation.  Cobb Habitat is often acknowledged by

Habitat for Humanity International as an innovative force within the Habitat for Humanity community.

How We Do it

Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families.   Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are recycled into a revolving fund that is used to help build more houses.

Family Selection

Families qualify for homeownership based on three criteria:

  • a need for housing
  • a willingness to partner with Cobb Habitat
  • an ability to repay a no-interest mortgage
If your family, or a family you know, is in need of decent, affordable housing, please look at our Apply for Home page.

    Donations

Cobb County Habitat needs donations of many types.  We are always looking for land, inkind items, financial support and volunteers. Remember that when you make a financial donation to Cobb Habitat, your dollar goes to help not only families in Cobb County, but families across the globe.  We tithe to Habitat for Humanity International and build "a house for a house."  To date, we have sent over $643,168 to Uganda and other countries.  That money has helped build 271 homes internationally.
Visit our Donate page for more information on how you can help our affiliate.

  •   Our offer to Cobb County residents is simple: We provide a vehicle for virtually anyone, of any faith or ideology, to share their time, gifts and resources to help the less fortunate. In return, you get paid in the kind of gratitude and self-satisfaction that has attracted thousands of Habitat volunteers for more than a quarter of a century.

You can help by donating your time, money, inkind donations of building tools and badly needed land within Cobb County to build new homes.
