Cobb High Schools Need Your Help!

Until the recent economic downturn, high schools in Cobb County built two homes each year with NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. Even though Cobb County has weathered this downturn better than many other places the high schools' fundraising efforts have not been as successful as in the past. This year they had to cut back to building only one house. The students and their families support these building projects both through their dollars and their labor, but they need more community support during these tight financial times.

Building a Habitat home develops a spirit of service among our young people and teaches them useful skills.  It requires discipline and sacrifce and promotes the importance of helping others.  It also teaches them lessons they will draw on throughout their lives. You should see these delightful young people; their eagerness to help, to contribute in a meaningful way, their desire to learn and willingness to work hard are inspiring!

Please help them to meet their house building goal and make a donation today. They start building on February 25th.  Knowing they have the full support of their community behind them would not only help them reach their goal, but also boost their spirits and make the entire experience more enjoyable.  Please help them give a deserving family a life-changing opportunity.

New skills learned now = more well-rounded adults! Students learn teamwork!

Cobb County high school house sponsors include:

These Cobb County high schools are working to sponsor one home this year and begin a fund to build next year.  They hope to return to building two homes per year.  The sponsorship fee for each home is $60,000.  They will need to raise a total of $120,000 to build two homes next year and raise enough money to finish paying for this year's house.

When you contribute to the high school building project you are making a long-term investment in your community. Each home has a market value of about $140,000. The families who purchase them become home-owning taxpayers who contribute to the economic stability of the county for decades to come.

Cobb EMC has gracioulsy recognized the value of this project by generously pledging $10,000 to NWMAHFH to use to support the high school build.  If the schools can raise enough to fund this year's house, the funds from Cobb EMC can start their building fund for next year.  Please help these wonderful young people to reach their goal!
