Cobb County Habitat for Humanity houses are sold with no profit made. Homeowners contribute "sweat equity" and house payments are recycled to build additional houses.
Sponsor a House

Build A House!

Habitat houses are built by volunteers who choose to sponsor or participate in the construction of a house.   These volunteers are “partners” with our affiliate and the new homeowner, and are considered to be very special people indeed!

Our houses are three or four-bedroom/two bath houses, averaging 1400 sq. feet in size.  It takes approximately 10 weeks (working on Saturdays only) to build the house, though sometimes it may take up to 12 weeks due to weather (or other unforeseen circumstances).

A sponsor is any individual or organization (church, business, civic group, association) who commits to fund all (or a significant part) of the expenses connected with building a Habitat house.  The sponsor(s) also commits to providing a significant portion of the labor needed to build the house, plus food and drink for the volunteers working that day.

Here are ways in which you can partner with us:

Full House Sponsorship:  $60,000

This pays for the material and labor costs associated with building a house.  Twenty-five (25) volunteers will be needed for 10 weeks (up to 12 weeks if there are weather delays).

Partner Sponsorships:  $15,000 - $30,000

Your organization contributes a portion of the sponsorship amount and is matched with other sponsors to underwrite the costs of house construction.  We will work with your group and your partner groups to determine the need, up to twenty-five (25) volunteers per build day.

What does Cobb Habitat provide to support the sponsor in house construction?

Our affiliate will provide land, supervision and coordinating/scheduling volunteers.  Our construction supervisors are professionals in their trade, and are experienced in supervising volunteer builders.  Our construction manager will meet with our sponsors in advance of the project to review all the details of the upcoming build.
In addition, Cobb Habitat must approve and select the family who will purchase the house that has been built by the sponsor.  Our Family Resources staff will work closely with the future homeowner and the sponsor to build relationships and to assure a transformative experience for everyone involved.

Why should my organization sponsor a house?

Because thousands of people in our community live in substandard housing and are unable to break the cycle of poverty without help from someone.  We can do something about that!  As you give, you will see the incredible results in the lives of individuals, families, our community and your organization.  As the members of your team work side-by-side along with the selected family, you will experience unity and a team dynamic that will motivate, renew and transform – perhaps as never before.    Everyone benefits when a Habitat house becomes a reality!

How do I (we) become a sponsor?

Contact Don Martin, Director of Development at Cobb Habitat, and we will walk you through the process step by step.  We are committed to the experience being a fantastic one for you and your team, and we focus all of our resources on your success.
