Enercon Employees Go "The Extra Mile"

On September 13, NW Metro Atlanta Habitat dedicated its eighth house of the year.  The homeowner is Lemlem Kasshun;  the sponsoring company was Enercon, an engineering firm based in Tulsa, Oklahoma and specializing in the start-up and support of nuclear power facilities.

This was Enercon's first construction project with NWMA Habitat, and it was an astounding success.  Site Project Manager Gary Boylan said "this was the most incredible group to work with...they were hard-working, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and - of course - being engineers, wanted everything to be just right."

Robert Bryan, Lead Engineer for Enercon in the Southeast, was the company project manager for the partnership.  He said, "our employees were committed to this project from the outset.  Their energy and excitement about partnering with Habitat only grew stronger as we went along.  We never had a shortage of volunteers, support or assistance.  It was great."

Enercon went "the extra mile" in this project...rather than ask corporate headquarters to donate charitable or marketing dollars to the sponsorship fee, the employees actually agreed to raise the full amount for their sponsorship through payroll deductions!  Not only did they work on the house, but they sacrificed their own income to pay for the construction materials.

The Enercon family went even further in embracing Lemlem Kasshun as part of their "family."  They purchased dozens of household items for her as housewarming gifts, including a dining room table, kitchen utensils, and furniture for the living room.  Lemlem was so overwhelmed at the dedication ceremony that she was unable to speak.  True love and friendship have been a vital part of this partnership with Enercon and Lemlem.

Enercon and NWMA Habitat are looking forward to partnering together next year, and hopefully for many years to come.  Enercon is a tremendous partner, and the entire Habitat family is grateful and humbled by the dedication of their employees to the project and Lemlem, the proud new homeowner.
