Our Houses
The Houses

Habitat houses are built by volunteers (with oversight provided by trained Site Project Managers and our Construction Team) who sponsor the construction of the house. Our houses are craftsman-style homes, with planned "Streetscape" landscaping with every house. The houses are 3 or 4 bedroom/2 bath homes, and the average size is approximately 1400 square feet. All of our houses are built in compliance with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) "Model Green Homebuilding Guidelines." In 2010, all of our houses will also be Energy Star and Earthcraft certified. It takes 8 weeks to build a house, which is then dedicated by the construction team and the homeowners (usually dedication takes place 2-3 weeks after the last day of the build).
On average, we build 20 homes a year, utilizing over 4,000 volunteers.
A sponsor is any individual, company, church or civic group that agrees to fund all (or a significant part) of the expenses of building a Habitat house. The sponsor(s) also commit to providing volunteers for labor plus food and drink for the volunteers working that day.
